The House of Representatives has passed government spending bills for 2026. These bills include resources for important programs that serve children and families such as child care, maternal health, and other programs.
But before sending the bills to the Senate, lawmakers linked these child-critical bills to vehicles that will also fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Members of Congress know the American people are horrified by the actions of ICE and yet some are trying to force funding for the agency by tying it to unrelated program dollars.
Funding for children should not hinge on funding for ICE. Before the Senate takes action, they must separate these bills, and then they must vote to pass investments for children and babies, NOT ICE.
