Earlier this month, Congress approved the framework of a budget deal that would force hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). If approved through the budget reconciliation process, these cuts would devastate health care for millions of children across America, but — after returning home and hearing from their constituents — some members of Congress are starting to reconsider their support for these cuts.
In fact, 12 key House Republicans recently sent a letter to party leadership, stating that they will not support a final bill that includes any reduction in Medicaid coverage for vulnerable populations like children.
