The Children’s Budget Coalition, a network of organizations led by First Focus Campaign for Children and dedicated to ensuring children are a priority in federal budget decisions, urged Congressional lawmakers to prioritize bold investments in children and families in upcoming budget and appropriations decisions. In a letter to leaders of the Senate and House today, the 40 signatories specifically urged Congress to reverse disinvestment in children and families and safeguard Congress’s constitutional power of the purse. Families across the nation face rising costs for food, housing, child care, energy consumption, education, and health care, they wrote, yet federal investment in children continues to fall behind.
