First Focus Campaign for Children expressed support for the Expanded Coverage for Former Foster Youth Act (S. 2077) in a letter sent today to Sen. Peter Welch, who introduced the bill.

Congress has repeatedly strengthened Medicaid coverage for former foster youth, the letter noted, but critical coverage gaps remain. First Focus Campaign for Children President Bruce Lesley said the organization supports the bill because it would ensure that all children formerly in the foster care system — regardless of when they exited foster care or whether they received Medicaid coverage during their time in foster care — have health coverage until age 26.
