Today, First Focus Campaign for Children sent a letter to Rep. Jeff Van Drew, author of H.R. 547, which
would have the effect of denying millions of U.S. citizen children access to the Child Tax Credit and would
increase child poverty, to express our opposition to the bill.

Excerpt from the letter:

The focus on the Child Tax Credit is clear in the first word: child. At First Focus Campaign for Children, we believe every child is precious and worthy of an opportunity to thrive and make the most of their lives. Unfortunately, H.R. 547 does not improve the lives of children but simply targets a subset of them for harm. Despite the title of the bill, your legislation would deny the Child Tax Credit to U.S. citizen children who live in mixed immigration status households, and consequently, the bill would increase child poverty.
