Lower costs for families, better pay for workforce
In response to the reintroduction of the Child Care for Working Families Act by Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA), First Focus Campaign for Children President Bruce Lesley released the following statement:
“It is clear that children and their families need better child care access and support. We thank Senator Murray and Congressman Scott for introducing legislation that will dramatically increase support for our child care system, resulting in lower costs for families, increased compensation for the child care workforce, funding for universal preschool, and more available child care slots across a variety of providers, including home-based; center-based; faith-based; and family, friend, and neighbor care. The U.S. must establish a high-quality early learning system that is available to every child in every state, regardless of income, and provides livable compensation to workers – this bill would help do just that.”
