Vice President, International Children’s Policy
Leila Nimatallah has over 25 years of advocacy experience in international children’s issues, global health, and poverty alleviation. She has trained and supported countless grassroots and grass-tops advocates to weigh in strategically with Congress and the media in support of the most vulnerable children and families worldwide.
Early in her career, Leila worked in the U.S. House of Representatives. She then honed her abilities to develop successful advocacy strategies and build political will within the administration and Congress at a range of non-profits including RESULTS, Global Action for Children and Catholic Relief Services. In 2018, Leila helped re-instate a 10 percent set aside of wrap-around services and support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children within U.S. international HIV policy. In January 2021, she spearheaded the passage into law of the Global Child Thrive Act, mandating the integration of early childhood development into foreign assistance programs serving vulnerable children and their families.
Leila holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and a Juris Doctor from Villanova Law. She is a member of the Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Bar Associations. She lives in Middletown, Maryland with her husband and has two grown sons, Mathew and Jamie.
