Take Action

Decades of research proves that children who attend high-quality preschool are less likely to be held back in school, require remedial education, engage in criminal activity or become dependent on public assistance later in life. And they are more likely to graduate from high school and earn more as adults. Despite these benefits, millions of children from low-income families lack access to high-quality preschool.

This week, the U.S. Senate is debating reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the largest investment in our children’s education and equality and accountability in our schools. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has introduced the Strong Start for America’s Children Amendment to provide high-quality, full-day preschool to 4-year-olds from low-income families. This amendment would provide millions of low-income children with access to preschool.
